Heavenly Headlines

Topped and tailed by challenging influences with an irritable, accident-prone Mars Saturn at the start and a risky, trapped Mars Pluto at the finish, April will have its tense moments. Mars Saturn usually brings blocks and delays so it’ll be a drag in week one. The pro-active Aries Sun will be in fiery gear, keen to take the initiative, but it will be negotiating its way through a slalom course of a Pluto road-block on the 11th and a disruptive Uranus on the 18th.

Luckily Venus in earthy, indulgent Taurus will prove an antidote to the agitation; as will a successful, confident and lucky Jupiter sextile Pluto midmonth And Mercury goes direct from the 15th which will also help to smooth out a few wrinkles.

March 2018

The first few days will be swimming in a Neptunian haze with the Sun, Neptune, Mercury and Venus all in this self-protective, hyper-sensitive though visionary sign. Energy may be low but sympathy levels should be high. Daydreaming will be a pleasant diversion.

Then Mercury and Venus on the 6th zip into fiery Aries for a minor change of mood. Upfront, directly outspoken, adventurous and go-ahead, Aries often acts first and thinks second but is rarely boring and usually on the ball.

The Pisces Sun sails along until the 20th, pulled together by Pluto and then morale-boosted by Jupiter before mid-month, so there should be good news.

From the 17th Mars moves into Capricorn for a fractious few weeks till mid-May as it will bounce off the Sun, then Saturn, and Pluto. Often it casts its shadow before it, in terms of accidents and aggravations so there may be more disasters than usual.

In the final ten days the Aries Sun will set a faster pace as it promotes initiative, and will be keen to get new projects started. Though it will be stop-go as it squares Mars and Saturn before March closes and will require perseverance. Mercury going retrograde on the 23rd for three weeks also won’t help, as it brings the usual hitches and glitches especially in communication.

On the 31st Venus moves into indulgent Taurus to compensate for any delays.

Venus in Pisces trine Jupiter in Scorpio – indulgent, frivolous, sociable.

4: Sun conjunct Neptune in Pisces – vague, kind, dreamy, low energy. Can bring disappointment. Not practical.

Mercury conjunct Venus – soft words, harmonious chats.

6: Mercury into Aries till May 13 – direct, impulsive, jumps to conclusions, not devious, likes to debate.

Venus into Aries till March 31 – social fun, romantically upfront, good at expressing feelings, wants pals as well as lovers.

9: Jupiter retrograde in Scorpio until July 10th – little or subtle effect. Need time to rethink ideals and opinions, perhaps financial matters also.

11: Mercury square Saturn in Capricorn – negative thoughts, critical, practical.

Mars in Sagittarius trine Uranus in Aries – excitable, not in mood for compromise, new ideas, rather disruptive but courageous.

Sun sextile Pluto – getting life together, back into the driving seat, taking control.

13: Venus square Saturn – too much work, not enough pleasure, separated in love.

Sun trine Jupiter – lucky, confident, good news.

February

The Aquarius Sun just off the wobble from the Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) on the last day of January, heads for a Solar Eclipse (New Moon) on the 15th. Focus will be crucial since this one depends on challenging everyone to get their head and heart in alignment and devote themselves to a pet project or worthy cause. Getting priorities straight is crucial; and so is not being too ego-centred on selfish concerns. Over-confidence is a risk around the 10th though an inspired hunch a few days later will bring enlightenment.

Venus hops out of detached, flirtatious Aquarius on the 10th, gliding into seductive, sensitive Pisces for the rest of the month. Mars continues in adventurous, outspoken and crusading Sagittarius throughout, with only one blip from a marginally disappointing or low-energy square from Neptune after mid month.

In the final ten days the Sun and Mercury join Venus in Pisces, for a lyrical and dreamy few days. Effort will be needed to turn visions into a reality.

3: Mercury in Aquarius sextile Mars in Sagittarius – lively chats.

4: Venus in Aquarius square Jupiter in Scorpio – indulgent, frivolous, lazy.

7: Venus sextile Uranus – sociable, fun-loving.

10: Venus into Pisces until March 6 – self-protective about feelings, timid about expressing attraction, creative, dreamy, seductive.

Sun in Aquarius square Jupiter – upbeat, enthusiastic, not too realistic, lazy.

13: Mercury square Jupiter – promise more than can deliver, but encouraging.

14: Sun sextile Uranus – new opportunities, inventive, gets rid of tension.

15: Mercury sextile Uranus – bright ideas and chats.

Solar Eclipse (New Moon) in Aquarius – too many new ideas so needs focus.

Venus sextile Saturn – cool, sophisticated, charming in a serious way.

17: Mars square Neptune – can be panicky about plans not working, or attract glamour/publicity.

Sun conjunct Mercury – in mental overdrive

18: Mercury into Pisces till March 6th – artistic, vague, evasive, good intuition.

Sun into Pisces for four weeks – prefer to drift along rather than confront or be overly practical. Following a vision.

21: Venus conjunct Neptune – romantic, can be disappointing if not realistic.

Mercury sextile Saturn – common sense.

25: Venus square Mars – passionately enthusiastic, though not always sensitive about other’s needs.

Mercury conjunct Neptune – vague. Evasive.

Sun sextile Saturn – good for planning and practicalities

28: Mercury square Mars – on a short fuse, irritable, outspoken.

January 2018

A busy astro month with great surges of confidence and a few challenges ends on a Lunar Eclipse. Not a dull moment.

It kicks off with a Full Moon in Cancer on the 2nd picking up dreamy Neptune, so indecision will be rife. The Mars Jupiter in Scorpio combo on the 7th will bring a sparkle of vitality, positive thinking and utter determination to bear on new projects. Mars Jupiter is the ideal combination for childbirth, so good for any new beginnings. The Jupiter sextile to the Sun next day will keep morale high though Pluto picking up Mars and then the Sun hints that unrelenting perseverance will be in order for a few days. Fortune will definitely favour the brave and those of a bulldozer mentality. Though a degree of flexibility will also be needed with Uranus not far behind springing sudden surprises around the 14th

Capricorn, a workaholic, ambitious sign houses the Sun, Mercury and Venus, as well as Saturn and Pluto and will reach a crescendo with the New Moon on the 17th – so single-minded focus will be demanded for best results. The Jupiter Pluto sextile on the 16th will be just what is needed to help create your own luck.

Then Venus moves out of sophisticated Capricorn into wild-hippy, friendly Aquarius for a lighter hearted mood on the 18th and is joined two days later by the Sun. December 2017

A high-octane, high-tension start to the month comes courtesy of Mars opposing Uranus on the 1st which is usually argumentative, intolerant or accident-prone with computers going haywire. Happily Venus moves into ever-optimistic Sagittarius to join the Sun and Mercury there on the same day so even despite Saturn’s rather downbeat presence it should sparkle up the mood in the days thereafter. Thoughts of travel, exotic holidays or social adventures will loom large.

Neptune may fog up the 3rd but taking a welcome rest from aggravations will be no bad thing. Mars which has been roaring through Libra for a few weeks now slides stealthily into Scorpio from the 9th to stay till late January. Mars is less vocal here though ultra-determined and not above getting its own back if criticised or thwarted. The fiery Sagittarius Sun will romp on undeterred until switching sign into Capricorn on the 21st just a day after Saturn does the same.

Saturn only changes sign every two to three years so it will mean a significant mood shift from the recent phase of self-righteous, argumentative Sagittarius into downbeat, dourly determined and more practical Capricorn, running through till 2020/21. Pluto is already in Capricorn so it’ll be building towards the Saturn Pluto conjunction of 2019, which does suggest a degree of hardship and generally tough conditions. Saturn rules Capricorn, which is an ambitious, workaholic sign, so it will double up the energy.     Difficulties will be overcome by sheer persistence.

Mercury goes direct on the 23rd so any delays in festive communications should disappear. On the 25th Venus also moves into Capricorn, unfortunately crossing Saturn that day, which will put a slight damper on frivolity, indulgence and romance. Venus here is keen on keeping up appearances and tends to aim for cool chic rather than gaudy displays.

PLANETARY ASPECTS:

1: Venus into Sagittarius until the 25th – wanting social excitement, planning fun parties, needing lovers to be friends. Mars in Libra opposition Uranus in Aries – self-willed, intolerant, irritable.

3: Jupiter in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces – head in the clouds. Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius till 23rd so communication hitches and glitches. Sun in Sagittarius square Neptune – vague, dreamy, low energy. Full Moon in Gemini – pulled in two directions.

6: Mercury conjunct Saturn – serious, negative, critical. Mercury sextile Mars – outspoken. Mars in Libra sextile Saturn – hard-work, requires grit and perseverance.

9: Mars into Scorpio till January 26th – stubbornly determined, never-say-die ambitions, slightly vengeful.

10: Mercury trine Uranus – inspired ideas, bright chats. Venus square Neptune – romantic dreams but not realistic, kind.

13: Sun conjunct Mercury – in mental overdrive, talking non-stop.

15: Mercury conjunct Venus – harmonious way with words, diplomatic, loving.

16: Sun trine Uranus – positive changes, new opportunities.

18: New Moon in Sagittarius – new beginnings.

20: Saturn into Capricorn till 2020/21 – sensible, ambitious, persevering, having to cope with difficulties especially financial. Venus trine Uranus – social fun, flirtatious.

21: Sun into Capricorn for four weeks – traditional, earthy, conscientious though can be indulgent. Sun conjunct Saturn – downbeat, setbacks, need to face mistakes and fix.

23: Mercury direct – irritating delays cease.

25: Venus into Capricorn – socially ambitious, putting on a good show. Venus conjunct Saturn – separated in love, or duty before pleasure.

28: Mars trine Neptune – can be glamorous and attract publicity, or low energy and lacking in will power.

OUTER PLANETS

Jupiter in Scorpio from October 11 2017 till early November 2018 – could be a money-magnet, usually good for business and joint finances, or attracting bonuses. Interest in secrets and what lies beyond reality in the hidden realms of the paranormal.

Saturn: In Sagittarius from September 19th 2015 till late December 2017 – serious about knowledge, education, legal matters, religion. Defensive about criticism, self-righteous. Into Capricorn from December 20th till 2020/21 – usually coincides with a time of some financial shortages and the need to push ambitions ahead with persistence.

Uranus: In Aries from 1 March 2011 till mid 2018 – hyper-active, energetic, determined to make new starts even if it means upsetting people, go ahead. Then into Taurus for seven years.

Neptune: In Pisces from February 2012 for thirteen years – religious, spiritual, has resonances with Muslim history.

Pluto: In Capricorn for sixteen years from Nov 2008 till 2024 = complete deconstruction and reconstruction of global economic and commercial structures and systems, as well as major changes in way in which governments work.
